The latest IPD UK Rural Property Investment Index, sponsored by Smiths Gore and Carter Jonas, will be launched on Thursday 2 July at the Farmers Club in London. It is expected to show that rural property has performed well since the start of the credit crunch in August 2007.

The NFU has launched a new category offering free membership to the Young Farmers' Club movement, for members aged between 16 and 21. On reaching age 21, YFC members can continue their membership of the NFU for two years at the special price of just £10 per annum.

The Scottish winner of the 2009 Nature of Farming Award is John Moir of Aberdeenshire. The Award, run by the RSPB in association with BBC Countryfile, Plantlife and Butterfly Conservation, honours farmers around the UK who manage their land sensitively for wildlife and the environment.
